Now that school is in full swing and daylight hours are getting shorter and shorter, we thought it would be a good idea to go over the rules of the road as a reminder for walkers, joggers and bikers.
Always walk and jog against traffic; bikers roll with it. Keep on the sides of the road or on sidewalks when possible, and when it’s dark out, wear visible clothing. Consider wearing a reflective safety belt or sash so drivers will spot you immediately, especially if you’re still and waiting for a bus in the early morning hours.
Also, be alert to what’s around you and don’t wear headsets! Why? Because you won’t hear car horns, (other) cyclists or the possibility of someone coming up behind you. If you need distractions, tune into your surroundings or if you’re not alone, enjoy a conversation with your partner.
